We read the labels so you don't have to.
The Fresh Bowl Report is a small, independent guide for dog owners who want to understand what's really in the bowl, and whether fresh dog food is worth it for their dog.
Why we started
Pet food labels are written to sell. "Made with beef" can mean as little as 3% beef under AAFCO naming rules, and most owners never find that out. We started The Fresh Bowl Report to explain those rules in plain English and to compare the fresh food services that are changing how dogs eat.
What we do
Decode labels
Short guides on ingredient lists, naming rules and marketing words.
Build simple tools
Like the Bowl Check: three questions to see if fresh food fits your dog.
Review honestly
Same checklist for every service, with the trade-offs included. See how we review.
What we're not
- We're not The Farmer's Dog or any other brand. We are not owned by, operated by, or endorsed by the companies we review.
- We're not veterinarians. Our content is general information. Your vet knows your dog; ask them before changing a diet.
- We don't sell food. Orders, billing and deliveries are always handled by the merchant.
How we're funded
We're reader-supported through affiliate links. When you buy through one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That keeps the site free and ad-light. It never buys a better review, and we label every post that includes an affiliate link.
Our promises
- No fake reviews or invented testimonials, ever.
- We cite where statistics come from.
- We fix mistakes as soon as we learn about them.
